How to add a semester

An academic year consists of semesters, which are defined periods of time within the academic year.

You can have as many semesters as needed, such as:

• 4 quarters with names like Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
• 1 single semester for the entire year.
• A semester for a summer program.

You can mix and match semesters and tracks for any given year. For example:

• Summer program semester only for 9th grade
• Fall semester for all tracks
• A ‘Spring Break Program’ in one academic year but not in another.

Follow these steps to add a semester.

• Please note that this procedure only sets up the names of the semesters. The actual date range for each semester will be entered when setting up the academic year, as it will change from year to year.

Step 1: Goto Settings>Semesters 

Step 2: Select ‘Add New Semester’ 

Step 3: Enter the name of the semester

Step 4: You can also enter a value in the ‘Order by’ field, which determines the order in which semesters appear across the system.

Step 5: Select ‘Create’ to save your changes and create the semester.

• Repeat this process as needed to add additional semesters.
