Class grading options

Created by School Edtech, Modified on Sun, 5 Jan at 9:05 AM by School Edtech

There are two places that contain settings that affect a class grade.

  • The class's 'Weights' found inside the class's Submenu > Weights
  • The class's 'Grading' section found inside the class's Submenu > Settings. In this article we will discuss this section.
    • For more information on Weights, see the related article.

Type

The 'Type' field allows you to choose whether class attendance is required and if this class should appear on transcripts. There are four options:

  • Attendance, On Transcript - attendance is required, and the class will appear on transcripts or report cards.
  • Attendance, Not on Transcript - attendance is required, but the class will not appear on transcripts or report cards.
  • No Attendance, On Transcript - attendance is not required, but the class will appear on transcripts or report cards. In this case the class attendance will be optional.
    • For more information about optional attendance, see the related article.
  • No Attendance, Not on Transcript - with this option attendance is not required, but the class will not appear on transcripts or report cards.

Credits

Enter how many credits the class is worth. The class credits will impact the student's final Grade Point Average (GPA). If your school does not use a credit system, you can leave the default value of one.

  • For more information on class credits, see the appropriate help tutorial in the "Transcripts" section.

Late Grade

The late grade is the value of a late towards attendance. With 'Present' equaling 100, and 'Absent' equaling a zero, the 'Late' value allows you to choose anything from zero to 100.

  • You can set the global late value in Main Menu > Settings > Grades and you can then leave the 'Late Grade' field blank to use the global value.
  • If you set a global value but would like to override it for this class, if you enter a different value in 'Late Grade', and this value will be used instead of the global value.

Point Deduction System

This option will not utilize the classis attendance percentage to determine the final grade, but rather penalize students for absences.

  • You can set a threshold of lessons allowed to missed, and set the number of points to be deducted for each missed lesson beyond the threshold.
  • For more information, see the related article "Attendance Grade"
